Orthotics are custom-made orthopaedic devices that fit comfortably inside your shoes. Our physiotherapists can prescribe and deliver heat moulded orthotics on site for patients who suffer from foot and leg pain or other complaints related to the foot position (eg knee and back pain, even headaches).
Orthotics can help with the correct alignment of the feet, improving walking and running patterns and playing a valuable role in the prevention and long-term management of many lower limb disorders. Orthotics allow your feet, legs, hips, pelvis and lower back to function more efficiently to reduce strain and pain.
Physiotherapy uses a variety of techniques to help your muscles and joints work to their full potential. It can help repair damage by speeding up the healing process and by reducing pain and stiffness. Physiotherapy also plays a vital role in rehabilitation; for example, helping people who have had strokes relearn basic movements.
All physiotherapists in Australia are required to be registered by law. Registration as a physiotherapist is only possible after completion of a university degree in physiotherapy or health sciences.
An appointment will usually be available within 24-48 hours; though where possible, we try and find an appointment on the same day.
A referral is not necessary, though if you have one, bring it with you so that the physiotherapist can communicate with the referring practitioner if required.
Payment is made after each consultation, either by credit card, eftpos, or cash. Please contact us for an up to date list of charges.
We have a TYRO system on site which directly communicates with your Health Fund. After your Health Fund rebates the fee, you will only be required to pay the gap.
The amount of the rebate will vary from fund to fund and will depend on your level of cover. It may be best to consult with your Fund directly to get an estimation of the rebate.
Philip Wood Physiotherapy is a BUPA preferred partner, a member of the HCF More for Muscles Program and a NIB preferred provider.
